Liz Robert, Middlebury College '78, UVM G'84

Liz Robert was born with a love for the outdoors and recreation. This passion has led her to live, learn, and work in places that offer her both—evidenced most recently in her role as CEO of Terry Precision Cycling. As she considered what direction to take Terry, she knew the business needed to be located in a place that was aligned with its customers, offering ample access to the outdoors and an appreciation for recreation. Vermont rose to the top of the list.

Terry Precision Cycling

Year moved: 2009

Size: 12 employees

Type of company:
Terry is the original manufacturer of women's road bicycles and today makes women's bikes, cycling clothing, saddles and accessories for all levels of riders, both male and female.

Benefits of doing business in Vermont:  As a longtime resident and former CEO of Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Robert is very familiar with the benefits Vermont offers: safe communities, clean environment, strong work ethic, and accessibility to the outdoors and to the people and resources that can help make business happen.   She also knows that Vermont is a great place to launch and build a brand.

In addition to benefits found naturally in our people and places, Robert also experienced the support that Vermont provides to growing companies.  Financial incentives and access to state and local leaders helped make the move to Vermont possible.   Support that meant Robert could focus on developing new ideas and growing the company.

Living in Vermont:
As an active outdoor lover, Robert takes advantage of Vermont’s numerous ski mountains.  In the summer, she particularly enjoys sailing on Lake Champlain; but of course, she is also becoming an avid cyclist!
