Matchmaker Training Event"

In advance of the next regional DOD Matchmaker to be held October 5-6 in South Portland ME, VT PTAC will be holding a “Preparing for the October Matchmaker” training day on September 9, 2010 in Manchester, VT. At this two hour long event to be held in Manchester, VT you will learn what to expect, how to prepare and how to make the most of your time with each participant at the matchmaker. We will explain what we have learned to be best practices and also what “things” that you should avoid doing. Our training won’t guarantee you a contract or subcontract, but we will give you the information you need to make the most of the contact time.
Some specifics of what will be covered:
1. What government contractors and federal agencies are looking for in a small business vendor.
2. What needs to be included in government hand-outs & capability statements
3. What you should and should not say to your “date” (contractor or federal agency representatives)
4. Why you need to develop your business proposition and value statement
5. How to develop a marketing plan

There will be training held in the afternoon for Small Businesses to prepare them for doing business with the Government.
Wednesday, October 6:
All day matchmaker event during which small businesses will meet for ten minute appointments with Prime contractors, Federal agencies, State procurement departments and State Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC's).
