This program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones - "HUBZones" - through the establishment of preferences. The program falls under the auspices of the US Small Business Administration and is intended to provide greater access to Federal contracting opportunities to businesses located in a HUBZone.
The US Small Business Administration (SBA) regulates and implements the program and determines which businesses are eligible to receive HUBZone contracts, maintains a listing of qualified HUBZone small businesses that Federal agencies can use to locate vendors, adjudicates protests of eligibility to receive HUBZone contracts, and reports to the Congress on the program's impact on employment and investment in HUBZone areas.
VTPTAC in collaboration with Vermont's District Office of the Small Business Administration is working to insure that all Vermont businesses that qualify for this program are certified.
Businesses can qualify if their principal place of business is located in:
- Caledonia County
- Orleans County
- Essex County
- Lamoille County
- as well as parts of the Cities of Burlington, Rutland and St. Albans
If certified, you will get competitive advantages in the government contracting process as well as other benefits.
