The results are in for Fast Company‘s annual Most Innovative Companies (MIC) list and Vermont-based Green Mountain Power (GMP) has earned the No. 1 spot among the Most Innovative Companies in Energy for 2018, up from No. 8 last year.
A first-of-its kind service, GMP offers customers energy-efficient options, such as solar and battery technology, and charges a flat monthly fee.The Colchester-based company even offers products like the Tesla Powerwall 2 in monthly billing rather than an upfront fee to encourage green energy practices.
According to Vermont Secretary of Commerce and Community Development Michael Schirling, recognition on the prestigious list “not only highlights GMP’s ongoing dedication to energy innovation, but is emblematic of the strength of all Vermont companies and further illuminates Vermont’s 200+ year history of entrepreneurship and creativity.”
